The biggest loss in 2006 was Zak
Griffin, who raced on my ATV teams for the past few years from Project
Blaster to Valley Cycle ATV. Although leaving
us too early as a teenager, Zak went the way many of us would want to go, doing what
we love to do. Very competitive and determined, he was always up for a challenge, and
motocross was his favorite. This loss personally changed my perspective on
life, and I'm fortunate to have had him as part of my race team. Through Spastic's voice I'll make sure
Zak Griffin is always remembered. Thanks # 23. |

Spastic is all about having fun
and living life happy, but there's a lot of pain involved as well.
Although Zak was a loss to everybody, even if they personally knew him or
not, I lost another big part of my life last year. My long relationship with
the best girlfriend I've ever had ended in late 2006, basically because I
didn't know what my future had in store and where I was going. It wasn't a
horrible break-up, just a realization that I probably wasn't going to be
around enough for her and that my lifestyle was just too much to handle.
It's tough to dedicate the majority of your time to the girl you love when
your dreams require even more attention, and if she's not willing to sit
next to me on this ride, then the results shouldn't be different. You learn
from everybody you meet in life, and I'd like to give big thanks to this
wonderful girl for understanding and caring enough to let me go. It hurts
like hell doing this alone, but just like every other obstacle, I just suck
it up, block out the pain, and push forward.
So what are my plans for Spastic from here? They teach you in business
school that you're supposed to have a plan for the future that your business
can follow. I've had many long lonely drives to think about it, but it's
still unclear. Spastic just wildly flows forward, growing wherever and
whenever it can, and forward is the right direction, right? The simple
explanation is that I hope to continue to become more involved with the street bike
stunt, tuner car, mountain bike, and entertainment areas, while continuing to keep the off-road and ATV products fresh. Spastic's weak area in the past has been
not keeping the website store updated enough. There's a good many products
sold out of the race shop in northern West Virginia that I never even had
time to put on the site, but that
will
change for sure.
Special Thanks goes out to.... My parents. Unlike a
normal smart kid, I couldn't just go out and get a good secure job doing
what I'm good at. Instead, I had to take a number of risks, falling on my
face many times. Thanks for being so patient with me through my mistakes.
The Cottages, Billy, Bill, Sherry, and Brandy for your loyal support and
helping get Spastic's name out there. Don Micheals for fixing so many of my
messed up graphic files and teaching me a few techniques that probably saved
me days of work haha. Rayne Sanders for helping with the websties and
forums. And lots of thanks to my Pontiac for getting me to many races and
events safely, giving me a place to sleep when I just can't make it
anywhere, and being so damn quick when I need to embarrass an import car :) |
